"Miss Fisher's Mysteries"

In keeping with my latest means of distracting myself, I have been devoted to Netflix.  And my favorite series, so far, has been the murder mysteries of Miss Phrynee Fisher, set in Australia in the 1920's.

If you are interested in clothes (hats, shoes, bags, feathers, hair pieces, all kinds of elaborate costuming), you will be glued to the screen as this sassy woman detective flits around with her gold plated pistol, climbing into windows in her fancy attire.

There must be 10 or 12 episodes and you should watch from the beginning, as the heroine's own life story is revealed in bits and pieces.  Two parallel love stories develop, one between Miss Fisher and the Inspector, and one between Dorothy, her companion, and the Constable.

Then there is Jane, her 12-year-old ward whom she rescued from "a fate worse than death" and the two "blokes" who do her dirty work.

But my favorite is Mr. Butler, who takes care of the house and does the cooking, (he was trained at the Cordon Bleu).
